I have been a Nordy's Girl for as long as I can remember and I will be a Nordy's Girl until I die! That being said, when I left for college *ahem* years ago, we changed our game plan a bit. Sure I still hit up Nordstrom once, or five times, when I headed home but we decided to make a special girls trip once a year to shop in various cities. In college, we met in San Francisco. After college, we shopped in Houston. I lived in LA for years, so all the Southern California locations were hit. We've been to Austin, Chicago, DC, La Cantera, you're getting the pic.
Well this year, I picked....
DALLAS!!!!!
My sis really wanted Chi-town (she didn't go when we went before) but I have some friends there and am planning a visit soon, so I thought it would be a blast to meet my fam in Dallas. I really miss Texas, and when I have the chance to go home...I jump on it! So, in November, I'll be jumping on Southwest and heading to Dallas!
Now, as strange as this might sound, I've never been to Dallas! (Cricket Cricket Chirp Chirp)! I knoooooow...a gal from Houston hasn't been north to Dallas? Nope! Only to fly through, where I take every opportunity to spit on each piece of Dallas Cowboys merchandise before hopping on the plane outta there! Those airport cops can be scary :)
So, where do all my Dallas girls recommend staying, eating, etc...? Obviously, we will be at The Galleria but I want something fun outside of that too! A neighborhood of hip restaurants, chic boutiques, and your best recommendation for an authentic Dallas BBQ joint!
Let's hear it ladies...I'm headin to Dallas and I want to live it up with my sissy and my momma! Where can we do that best?
AAh! Never been to Dallas! The Galleria is nice, but Northpark is the pinnacle of shopping for me! Though, I will have to say the Nordy's at the Galleria is probably bigger than the one at Northpark.
ReplyDeleteAs far as food, if you're into BBQ, check out Sonny Bryan's. Mexican - Uncle Julio's or Gloria's. I could go on for days!
Have funnn!!!!
I agree with the previous comment. I prefer NorthPark shopping to the Galleria. Although Midtown has some fun bars and restaurants. I've also heard they've built up some nice places down near the American Airlines Center, although I haven't been back since last summer, so I haven't actually seen that area. There are also some cute shops/restaurants and an independent film theatre (the Angelika) off the Mockingbird exit in North Dallas (or Mockingbird station if you ride the DART train). For fun going out, I'd recommend checking out the bars/restaurants in Addison. It's a really great young professional crowd down there. I'm from Dallas, but I don't do BBQ, so sorry I don't have a recommendation for that. If you feel like being touristy the JFK museum downtown is pretty interesting too.
ReplyDeleteI actually prefer the Nordy's at the Galleria to Northpark - but it's all about personal opinion. :) Northpark is only 15 min or so away from the Galleria, so you could always hit both! I used to work in the Galleria area and lived in uptown, so I have tons of suggestions. I've tried to whittle the list down to my favorites...

I love hitting up Nordy's whenever I am traveling, too! Much to my husbie's dismay ;)
Have a fun trip!!
I agree with Northpark.. but I guess its personal preference.
ReplyDeleteAcross the street from Northpark is Buca di Beppo, so good! www.bucadibeppo.com
There is a Panera right next door also.
It will take you hours to get through Northpark and it has everything. Literally.
Have fun!
If you are wanting to stay at a hotel in downtown then the closest mall with a Nordy's is Northpark. But you could always go to the Galleria. Hotel Zaza is an awesome hotel and is located in uptown which is where all the cool bars and restaurants are. Knox/Henderson has some good shopping as well. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time no matter where you end up, you're with your mom and that alone makes it perfect.
ReplyDeleteI have the same purse as you do in this pic! Sweet.
